Ethan

Ethan 9 months

Can you believe it? Ethan is NINE months old already! I apologize for not sending the updates more regularly. The last update was when Ethan was almost five months old., so a lot has happened since then…

I took Ethan to his nine- month well-baby checkup yesterday (March 7, 2002). He is a BIG boy! Ready?
Weight: 21 pounds 9 ounces (off the chart)
Height: 27 ¾ inches (75th percentile)

He grew almost three inches since his last visit, which I was really happy about because the last time he had only grown about an inch in two and a half months! He is very healthy (despite the fact that we are home today because he decided to be a little sick) and strong. He eats really well. Of course he has decided to not like his green veggies. His favorites are sweet potatoes and pears (not together of course). It is the funniest thing to watch him eat! Or to even listen to him eat! His pediatrician said that in a month we should start giving him yogurt and cottage cheese since he will be switching to grown-up milk when he turns a year old. A year old! It’s right around the corner! Any suggestions on where to have the birthday party? I don’t think Auntie Darlene’s back yard will be done by then.

I am making a little traveler out of him too! Scott and I took Ethan with us to see my friend Lynda in Oregon. His first plane ride! Didn’t bother him a bit. Slept right through the landing, and we were even sitting by the wing! Then we decided that hey, Seattle is just up the road (3 ½ hours up the road, but who’s counting). So, I called our friend Kileen who lives in Port Orchard, Washington and asked her if she could meet us at the Space Needle. SURE! Mr. Ethan got to meet Kileen and her daughter, Haeley, as well as Kileen’s mom, then we were off to the top of the Space Needle. Spontaneity is so cool sometimes!

I am also taking Ethan with me to North Carolina in four weeks. I found some great airfare, so we are going to go and see our dear friends Theresa, Chris, and Miss Madison. I can’t wait. Ethan and Madison are going to marry someday you know.

Ethan is doing very well developmentally. He still can’t sit up on his own, but he is rolling over to his tummy. He hasn’t rolled back yet, but I’m sure it will happen soon. He is very smart. We just have to work with him a little bit more. He laughs much more and smiles from a distance more now too. We used to have to be in his face for him to smile. His feet are his new found toy. He is very bendy and likes to try and eat his feet.

Ethan also figured out how to jump in his Jolly Jumper. It is so funny! It almost looks like he is doing ballet. He is a thrill seeker! The higher he jumps the better, the higher you swing him, the better.

He has also had his SECOND haircut! If we had waited until he was a year, we could’ve donated it to Locks for Love! Everyone kept calling him a girl, and it was annoying me. Just because he had hair he was a supposed to be a girl? Even when he is dressed in baseball/football/soccer stuff, and wearing “Thank Heavens for Little Boys” bibs.

I have to add just one more thing. Ethan’s doctor said the nicest thing to me yesterday. She came back in the room and said, “I like you. You have such a positive attitude with your baby and you always have. He will excel because of you. A lot of parents of these children aren’t as loving as you. That’s why I like you so much.” I just told her that Ethan is my everything. Always will be.

I hope that the next update won’t take so long. We hope that life is treating you all well!

The Faulkners will be moving to North Carolina!
